This Winchester Model 92 lever action rifle as manufactured in late 1918, chambered in the desirable and always popular .44 W.C.F. caliber. This fine rifle has the last, fourth pattern upper tang markings of "MODEL 92/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK U.S. PAT. OFF & FGN." The left barrel flat is marked with Winchester factory two line/address and patent dates of "MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN, CONN.", and the left rear barrel flat is marked "44 W.C.F." The top of the barrel and receiver are both stamped with the Winchester circled "WP" factory proof, and the underside of the frame stamped with the serial number. This rifle has a full length octagon barrel with the sporting front sight and standard factory adjustable rear sight. It is fitted with the standard straight grip walnut stock and forearm with a crescent buttplate and metal forend cap.
Very fine with 80% of the original blue finish overall, blue flaking on the sides and underside of the receiver, and excellent solid blue finish on the barrel and magazine tube. The stock and forend are both excellent with 98% of the original factory varnish and only minor handling marks in a couple of places, probably one of the best walnut stocks and forend we have seen on a rifle chambered in this caliber, as they usually saw lots of use out West. Mechanically excellent. A very fine example of a high end condition Winchester 92 lever action rifle in a desirable caliber.
