Damascus steel barrels with a single steel bead on the matted solid rib, 1976 dated London nitro reproofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers. The barrels have been shortened to the current length. The scalloped casehardened boxlock action displays scroll engraving and features double triggers and a classic Greener safety. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with horn tip and engraved fittings, and straight grip stock with inlaid flats, inscription oval marked "J.DARNOLD/Mar. 11th/1893/FROM CHA", and a red rubber recoil pad. Included is a leather and wood takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 7/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 15 oz.
Fine, showing a mixed grey and brown patina on the barrels, 30% original case colors, scattered minor oxidation, and light handling evidence. The wood is fine as refurbished showing a few light marks and crisp checkering. The case is good. Mechanically excellent.
