Blued steel barrel without sights, scope blocks for the mounted Stevens single post scope, and "MEUNIER" marked on the top flat for rifle builder Joseph Muenier of Milwaukee, WI. The casehardened action displays beautiful scrollwork with oval panel game scenes on either side consisting of a buck in a field on the left and a running buck on the right. The rifle features a pistol grip lever, double set triggers, and a nickel plated forend cap with screw in palm rest. Nicely figure and multi-point checkered short forend and pistol grip stock with large cheekpiece and nickel plated Swiss buttplate.
Very good, showing a mostly even brown patina on the blued surfaces with some areas of light oxidation, some rubs in the nickel finish on the forend cap and buttplate, attractive silver/grey patina on the action and lever with traces of case colors in the protected areas. The wood is also very good with a small crack at the left of the wrist and mostly sharp checkering. The scope has hazy optic. Mechanically excellent.
