Description:Manufactured in 1939, this is a desirable "long upper tang" variation of a Winchester Model 71 rifle. The rifle is fitted with a Winchester 97A non-glare ramp front sight with brass bead, No. 22J flat top rear sight with elevator and half magazine. The left side of the barrel has the Model 71 legend followed by "348 W.C.F." A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Import marked on underside of barrel. The underside of the receiver has the pre-World War II serial number. Sling eyes are mounted on the underside of the forend cap and buttstock. Mounted on a checkered pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber grip cap and added Winchester recoil pad and matching checkered forearm. Provenance: The Wayne Connor Collection
Rating Definition:Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with some flaking turned to brown mostly on the forend cap, numerous spots of brown on underside of receiver, and lever. The wood is also excellent with some scattered minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. An excellent pre-World War II deluxe Winchester Model 71 rifle.
