Dated 1938 on the chamber, with the "S/42" code on the toggle. "Eagle/63" and "droop wing eagle" proofs on the right side of the barrel extension and on the barrel, with the firing proof on the left side of the breechblock, and "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the upper safety area and extractor, respectively. Finish is full blue, with a pair of checkered grips and two blued magazines with alloy bases. One of the magazines is numbered to match (with "+" spare magazine indicator), the other mixed, and the right grip panel blank, with other components matching overall. Included with the lot is a brown leather flap holster with a faint maker's mark and "1938" date, and a takedown tool. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection
Excellent, with 90% of the original blue, showing the start of a brown patina on the gripstraps, bright edge wear, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. The grips are very fine, with some dings and verdigris buildup, and the holster is good, with some cracking and scuffing. Mechanically excellent.
