These pistols are very much in the style of the officer's pistols during the Napoleonic era but scaled down, and the consignor indicated they are from the late 19th century. They are marked "Artillerie" in fancy script on the locks. The bright steel barrels are smoothbore and fitted with blade front sights and notch rear sights on the tangs. The furniture is silver. The nicely figured walnut stocks have fine checkering. The pair comes in a rosewood presentation style case with a set of accessories, including a small powder horn.
Fine with bright barrel and lock, some minor spots of faint oxidation/pitting, mild wear on the frizzen, attractive aged patina on the silver, and minor age and storage related wear. The stock is very fine and has crisp checkering, beautiful figure, and light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. The relined case is fine and has some cracks and mild storage wear. The accessories are very good and have minimal wear.
