Description:Manufactured by Mauser in 1935; while the Germans were still paying lip service to the Treaty of Versailles, 1935 was the second year of renewed Luger production, as the Nazis already had designs on Lebensraum in Eastern Europe and payback against the French. Fixed sights, with the "G" date mark on the chamber, "S/42" on the front toggle link, "eagle/63" on the extension and barrel, and "drop wing eagle" firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock. Straw colored small parts, nitre blue springs, pins and screws, checkered grips and a blued magazine with aluminum base. Both grips are numbered to match the pistol, with the inside of the right grip panel marked "Sgt. Puterbaugh/HQ B"; the Sergeant has not been positively identified, though may have been the GI to first capture this pistol in the field. With a 1937 dated black leather flap holster, extra magazine and takedown tool.
Rating Definition:Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish, showing bright edges, mild spotting concentrated on the grip straps, and light handling marks overall. 60% of the bright original straw color is present on the small parts, and 50% of the original niter blue. The grips are fine with flat spots, dents, and stains. The holster is good with mild scuffing and cracking. Mechanically excellent.
