Manufactured/reworked prior to 1986, using a Douglas Oefinger tube receiver and military surplus components to build a weapon in emulation of the Canadian-made STENs supplied to China during World War II. While the Nationalists were the chief destination for Allied military support, STENs were found on both sides of the Nationalist/Communist divide, seeing active use in both the 2nd Sino-Japanese War as well as the Chinese Civil War. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a short barrel nut/heat shield, a 1944 dated Long Branch magazine well with "Canadian broad arrow" stamp and Chinese markings on top. The left side of the trigger housing bears Oefinger's address. A blued steel tubular buttstock is installed. Magazine absent.
Very fine, with 90% plus refinished matte gray parkerized finish, showing some mild wear and handling marks overall, as well as some finished-over pitting on the magazine well. The stock is good, with 70% of the refinished blue, showing some weld marks and discoloration. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
