Dual bead sights on the matte concave rib with light scroll engraving at the muzzle, 4 inch wedges of fine scroll engraving just forward of the breech, standard markings and proofs on the flats, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, and chokes marked cylinder/modified. The receiver features full coverage masterfully executed floral and scroll engraving with highly detailed semi-relief scenes of a setter and pheasant on the right, setter and grouse on the left, a pair of partridge on the underside, and a woodcock on the trigger guard. The birds and dogs are rendered in brilliant gold inlay. A similar pattern can be seen on page 136 of "Winchester's Finest: The Model 21" by Ned Schwing. The watertable is unmarked with the exception of a single Winchester "WP" proof. Single gold washed trigger with selector and manual sliding tang safety. Finely checkered forearm with fancy fleur-de-lis border carving in the style of the factory 21B pattern with fully engraved fittings, and very attractively figured straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Neither the forearm wood or fittings are numbered. The included factory letter confirms the 26 inch barrels and their chokes, single trigger, non-automatic safety, straight grip stock, and checkered bare butt when the final inspection was completed for a Robert Woodruff on December 5th, 1933. The second 30 inch barrel set has been renumbered to match the gun with matching engraving at the muzzle and breech, standard markings on the flats, and full/full marked chokes. Includes a leather bound takedown case with Winchester interior label. Barrel measurements for the 30 inch set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .619/.620 inches; choke constriction .024/.022 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.027 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for the 26 inch set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .617/.618 inches; choke constriction .000/.011 inches; minimum wall thickness .025/.027 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 5 oz.
Very fine as professionally embellished and refinished with 99% of the high quality deep blue finish, some light handling marks and slightly soft edges. The wood is also very fine with some very slight chipping around the lower tang, crisp checkering, attractive grain and color, and some very small dings. Mechanically excellent. The second barrel set is also very fine with some light handling marks. Case is very good with some scuffs and storage marks on the exterior.
