Manufactured in circa 1907, this rifle features blued barrels with single extractor and respectively signed “W.J. JEFFERY & CO.” and “13 KING STREET ST. JAMES’S ST. LONDON”. Sunken matted concave rib with ramp mounted bead front sight, matted concave quarter rib with express sight of one standing notch sight and four folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line and graduated to 500 yards, import mark on the rib below the forearm, and doll’s head extension engraved with a shell. Casehardened action signed “W.J. JEFFERY” on each side and with removable firing pin bushings, blued toplever, automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”, casehardened trigger plate and blued floorplate. Furniture comprising blued trigger guard and dark horn pistol grip cap. The whole engraved with classic English scrollwork. The underside of the barrels and water table struck with Birmingham nitro (Cordite) proof marks. Figured 15 inch walnut pistol grip stock including orange rubber recoil pad, with panels of fine multi-point checkering to the grip and forearm, the latter with Anson button release. The underside of the butt with sling eye and blank oval initial escutcheon, the corresponding sling eye is fitted beneath the barrels. Weight 10 lbs. 7 oz. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection
Very good as professionally refurbished, retaining near 100% of the finish including a deep blue to the barrels and bright strong casehardening to the action. Engraving is slightly softened, barrel signatures recut. Stock in very good condition. Rear sight mounted back to front. Mechanically excellent.
