The included book "Colt Brevete Revolvers" by Marcot and Paxton pictures this exact revolver on p. 109, and these brevete Baby Dragoon revolvers are described on p. 90-109. The top of the barrel is marked "COLTS/PATENT" and the bottom of the trigger guard is marked "DR" and "562". The book lists the revolver in .28 caliber but it appears to measure closer to .26 or .27. It is fitted with a brass bead front sight, hammer notch rear sight, and a smooth hardwood grip.

Very good, showing mostly a smooth grey patina with some scattered patches of light-minor pitting, some tool marks on the right near the wedge, and traces of the original silver finish on the otherwise attractively aged brass. The grips are fine with some light handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically fine.
