Description:

These pistols were identified by Richard Littlefield of Littlefield Antiques as made by William Perry of Birmingham c. 1780 based on the "H" date codes on the silver grotesque mask pommel caps. He also identified the engraved crest over "L" on the silver wrist escutcheons as most likely for William Leche who was high sheriff of Cheshire County in 1774. The pistols have multi-stage cannon style barrels, Tower private proofs, "LONDON on the right sides, "PERRY" on the left sides, scroll and martial engraving, and silver wire and pin borders around the oval wrist escutcheons.

Rating Definition:

Fine with attractively aged patina on the brass and silver, crisp engraving, dark gray and brown patina on the iron, and mild overall wear. The grip is very good and has mild scratches and dings and minor edge wear. The frizzen spring is cracked and weak; otherwise, it is mechanically fine.
