Manufactured in 1882, this is an extremely scarce example of James Reid's No. 3 derringer or "all metal revolver. With an estimated total of only 75 manufactured, these revolvers are rarely seen in any condition. The top of the barrel is marked "REID'S DERRINGER". The grip area and rear of the frame are both profusely factory engraved with floral scroll, borders on the top strap, and crosshatched patterns on either side of the front of the frame. The butt of the grip is inscribed "S. Post". Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection
Exceptionally fine, retains 80% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to reveal a darker grey patina, few scattered patches of light pitting, and crisp engraving overall. Mechanically excellent.
