Manufactured in 1908 with standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, and "nickel steel" marking on the left of the barrel. The left side of the lower tang is marked "509 778 XXX" and a partial "REFINISHED" marking, while the mainspring lug is marked "RF". "509" is repeated in the stock inlet twice, once stamped over "778" which was likely done when the rifle was refinished by the factory. It is fitted with Lyman beaded blade front, elevation adjustable notch rear, and tang mounted peep sights, half magazine, and lightweight barrel. It is mounted with a finely figured, "H" pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber shotgun buttplate.
Very fine, retains 98% plus of the factory refinished blue and 60% of the case colors with the balance mostly faded to a smooth grey patina, primarily on the lever and hammer. The wood is very fine a few hairline cracks in the wrist, some light crazing throughout, and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
