Description:The top strap is marked "H. PIEPER BTE LIEGE." The rear cylinder face has a Liege proof. Other Belgian proofs are present. The hammer, cylinder latch/recoil shield and trigger are casehardened. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder and barrel. The Pieper Model 1893 revolver operates along a gas seal design where the cylinder moves forward to seal during firing. The same concept was used on the Nagant revolver. Other design elements include a rebounding hammer and swing out cylinder with hand ejector system. These revolvers were very popular in Mexico with the Mexican government purchasing several thousand. Provenance: The General Sam S. Walker Collection
Rating Definition:Excellent, retaining 95% plus high polish original blue finish with some scattered high edge wear, some scattered light spotting with evidence of some cleaning on the top strap and thinning on the back strap. 98% original case colors remain on the hammer, trigger and cylinder late/recoil shield. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
