This a complete set of miniature armor with shield. The Victorian era was accompanied by the romanticization of the Medieval period and, combined with an increasing consumer class, led to the creation of reproductions of bygone armor and weapons for display in homes which continued well into the 20th century. The armor is 40 inches tall with the stand and set on a 10 1/2 inch wide by 3 1/2 inch tall wood base with rods to support the armor from the inside. This example has a close helmet that features a one-piece skull, pointed visor with eye slit divide at the center and pointed lifting peg on the left, upper and lower bevors with the lower bevor secured by a hook, and breath holes on the upper bevor. Decorated with extensive scrollwork and raised brass double headed eagles representing the Coat of arms of Toledo, Spain.
Fine overall with mostly bright metal surfaces, some spots of light surface rust, and crisp scrollwork. A few of the leather straps are torn. An overall attractive miniature suit of armor that would display well in any room!
