Description:This diminutive rifle was likely built for a younger boy. The overall length is just 41 3/4 inches from heel to muzzle; shorter than just the barrel of many full-sized American long rifles. The bare crescent butt is also shaped for a small arm. No identifying markings are visible. It features blade and notch sights, double set triggers, light bird scene and scroll patterns on the lock, and a nicely shaped and figured stock with carved accent line on the cheek rest. Provenance: The Robert B. “Bob” Berryman Estate Collection
Rating Definition:Good overall with dark brown patina, mild oxidation, erosion at the breech, voids in the brass trigger guard, some chips and slivers absent from the stock, and moderate overall wear. Mechanically functions (set trigger first).
