Description:Marked "1" on the loading gate and "E. SCH/15" on the front of the frame. This large revolver was likely intended to be mounted in a pintle in defense of a choke point or trench and remotely fired using a line or as a trap, also with a line/trip wire attached to the small ring on the trigger. Similar examples have been attributed to Chaineux and LeFaucheux, though this can't be confirmed as many similar examples have been found with German proofs. This example's bore is approximately 28 gauge and the chambers of the 24-shot cylinder are approximately 2 inches long and it weighs 15 1/2 pounds.
Rating Definition:Fair, showing a brown patina overall with mild pitting scattered throughout. Mechanically it appears to function in double action only, but does not rotate the cylinder. A very interesting piece that won't be found in very many collections!
