Description:Manufactured in June of 1945 and subsequently upgraded to M1D Sniper configuration. Notes from the consignor indicate that this rifle was among the weapons transferred to the Dutch government after WWII, which were later returned. Blade front and peep rear sights, with "DRC" windage drum and a Springfield "S A 11 52" barrel with integral scope base. Internal components include a Springfield bolt, trigger housing, hammer and relief-cut operating rod, and an unmarked safety. The hardwood lacks American-pattern inspection marks, and is numbered on the belly to match the receiver (as observed on some Garands restocked by the Dutch prior to return to the States); there is no evidence that a cheek piece was ever installed. A M1D pattern scope ring is included, along with a matching numbered CMP M1 certificate and a set of data sheets.
Rating Definition:Very fine as upgraded, with 90% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish, showing mild cycling and handling wear overall. The stock is very good, with some dings, scuffs and dents. Mechanically excellent.
