This is an excellent example of a late commercial production Model 1928 Thompson submachine gun as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York, circa late 1970s early 80s. These new production weapons retained many of the earlier original style parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator, vertical foregrip, detachable buttstock, and adjustable ladder rear sight. These are easily identified by the "A" serial number suffix. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1233A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A." This desirable weapon has an all walnut stock, vertical foregrip and pistol grip with the later brush blued finish. This lot includes two thirty round stick magazines, nine twenty round stick magazines, one "L" type Auto-Ordnance 50 round drum magazine, various spare parts (two firing pins, a recoil spring, a magazine catch, and a brass bolt lock), and a green web sling. Comes with an FBI style case.
Excellent with 98% plus of the original factory blue finish overall showing minor edge and high spot wear mixed with signs of very light test firing. The wood components are all in excellent condition with only a couple minor handing marks on the upper, underside area of the buttstock, which has a beautiful tiger stripped wood pattern on both sides. The various accessories are all in very fine condition overall. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
