Manufactured in 1875. This is one of the Colt Single Action Cavalry Model revolvers in the serial number range from 16433-19529 that were inspected by Ordnance Sub-Inspector A. P. Casey. The A.P. Casey sub-inspector "C" mark is found on the side of the cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. "P" proofmarks are stamped on the side of the cylinder. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates marking followed by "U.S." The top of the barrel has the one-line Hartford address. A collector's inventory number is on the trigger guard. The left side of the grip has an A.P. Casey "APC" cartouche. The ejector rod has a bullseye head. The barrel lacks a serial number. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and cylinder. This revolver is listed by serial number as a New York Militia issue Cavalry Model Revolver in Kopec and Fenn's "Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers…a Continuing Study" on page 43.
Very fine as professionally restored. The grip straps and barrel retain 97% of the blue finish and the cylinder retains 50% thinned blue finish. The hammer and frame retain 97% of the case colors. The modern replacement grip shows limited handling marks and a crisp restamped cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
