10,000 Model 1841 Rifles were manufactured by Robbins, Kendall & Lawrence in Windsor, Vermont from 1845-1848. This example features the c. 1859 arsenal alteration to accept a socket bayonet featuring a lug on the bottom of the barrel and the turned down diameter of the muzzle which included front sight blade removal. The barrel is marked "N.J" near the breech with "11" on the buttplate. The lock and barrel tang are both dated "1847" and there are two visible cartouches on the left of the stock flat. Includes a "U.S." marked socket bayonet. Removable collection mark in white under varnish on the trigger guard.
Very good, showing mostly a mottled grey-brown patina with some scattered light pitting. The reoiled wood is fine and has minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and clear cartouches. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very good with some scattered grey patina.
