This is a scarce example of a Phil Hart custom Armalite AR-180 SCS rifle. These were manufactured after the assault rifle ban was implemented as a two-fold way to both increase sales of these rifles and also to comply with the rigors of the new assault rifle ban. The main aspects is that these were stocked with a custom full-length, Mannlicher style walnut stock with the ubiquitous thumb-hole pistol grip. It features a beautiful, high polish, commercial grade, blued metal finish and a stamped sheet metal handguard/heat shield. At that time in 1994, they were one of the only fully legal semi-automatic AR-180 rifles to comply with the ban, available for civilian sales. There were approximately only 385 manufactured in total with each rifle have a unique serial number with a "PH" serial number prefix; as in this case its serial number, "PH00365". The receiver is marked: "ARMALITE AR-180, Cal. 5.56mm, MFG. BY STERLING OF ENGLAND" and "MFG. FOR/ARMALITE INC./COSTA MESA, CALIF.". It has the same internal parts and components as the military version, including the fully adjustable military style sights, three prong flash hider with bayonet lug, side mounted cocking handle with the gas piston assembly. As noted, it has a custom, thumb-hole walnut buttstock with a raised ambidextrous cheekpiece and a checkered plastic buttplate. It comes with one "AR-18/ARMALITE INC." marked 20 round magazine.
Excellent with 99% of the original blue finish overall. The walnut stock is also in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent.
