One of approximately 588 manufactured in 1977 that were only available to members of the U.S. Marshals, with this examples engraved to "James H. Hopson 1422" on the back strap. Apart from the engraving and the special barrel rollmark "UNITED STATES MARSHAL-1789", it has standard markings and features. James H. Hopson was a U.S. Marshal who was seriously wounded in a shootout in 1983 outside of Medina, North Dakota, in which two other marshals were killed. Includes a hardwood case with commemorative plaque on the lid and a Colt certificate.
Excellent overall, retains 99% original nickel finish with only the slightest handling marks and some light spotting on the cylinder and bottom of the ejector housing. Mechanically excellent. The case is near new with only the slightest handling/storage marks.
