This is an attractive example of an early DWM Model 1908 military Luger that is dated 1910. This model was used by all Imperial German forces before, during and after WWI. The 1910 dated Lugers are fairly scarce as they had a short production run with the majority of WWI Lugers dated 1911-1914. This example has been arsenal modified for the hold-open device and has the small DWM rework proof on the right side of the frame. It has the standard DWM markings on the front toggle assembly. The right side of the barrel extension has the correct WWI two, "crown/script letter" proofs followed by the Imperial Eagle firing proof. The later proof is also found on top of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. The barrel is correctly serial numbered followed by the bore diameter. It has the standard fixed sights with standard German safe and loaded markings. It is fitted with unnumbered checkered walnut grips. Its complete with a tin plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base. It has the rust blued finish with the straw colored small parts.
Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish with edge and high spot wear, cold blue touchup on the muzzle and thinning on the frame rails. The smaller parts retain 98% of their restrawed colors. The grips are in very fine condition with nice, distinct checkering on both sides with only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A very nice example of an early pre-WWI Luger pistol.
