The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45 caliber, nickel and gold plated finish and type of stocks "to be furnished by customer" when shipped on January 10, 1966 and delivered to Paul Gubbins, Pratt & Whitney, West Hartford, CT. Gubbins was General Counsel for Chandler Evans, Colt Firearms and Pratt & Whitney Machine & Tool. In the factory letter Colt historian M.S. Huber notes Gubbins was the legal attorney for Colt at the time the revolver was purchased. The revolver also has standard Colt markings and one-piece bird's eye maple grip. The cylinder, cylinder pin, ejector rod and head, and grip straps are gold plated, and the remaining major components are nickel plated. Includes correct period stagecoach box, instructions and warranty card. This revolver is pictured and identified in Don Wilkerson's "The Post-War Colt Single Action Revolver, 1955-1975" on page 88. According to Wilkerson, this revolver is the only nickel and gold plated second generation SAA known to exist (page 95).
Near new showing only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with a couple tape repaired corners. Not even the most advanced SAA collection has one of these! For the serious SAA collector who seems to have it all!
