This is a solid representative example of a WWII M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle that was manufactured by Springfield Armory in Sept 1943. It has the standard receiver markings, and the barrel is marked 1-S-A-9-43 with the breech still in the white. The internal parts are marked as follows: Bolt D28287- 12SA/S-B7, Op Rod D35382 6 SA (uncut), trigger housing D28290-14 SA, hammer C46008-5 SA, miller trigger guard unmarked, safety C460015-9SA. It is fitted with the locking bar rear sight set with the battle range markings on the elevation knob with a wide base gas cylinder, uncapped front sight screw, and round top gas cylinder lock, with the single slot gas plug. It has all walnut wood components with the left side of the stock stamped with the boxed "SA/EMcF" cartouche followed by the large Cross-Cannon Ordnance cartouche with the single circled "P" proof in the pistol grip. All the various parts have a light gray parkerized finish and the wood components all have a medium brown color overall with the linseed oil finish.
Very fine with 90% plus of the arsenal parkerized finish overall showing light wear on the edge and high spots overall with finish loss on the right side receiver rail and top of the bolt from light firing/cycling of the action. The reoiled wood components are all in very fine condition with only minor handling marks with a small crack in the top rear handguard. The cartouches are clear and sharp.
