Description:Manufactured circa 1911/1912. Hooded blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with a "3-12" dated Springfield barrel, "volley notch" at the top of the ladder, slightly turned bolt handle and dual recoil bolts. The smooth straight wrist stock is marked "P" on the underside, with a brown leather sling and a sharply checkered steel buttplate.
Rating Definition:Very good plus, with 30% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina, bright edge wear, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. The receiver has turned a mixed black and gray, retaining strong elements of the original pattern. The later production replacement stock is very fine, with some scuffs, dents and varnish loss overall, and some cracking or chipping in the underside of the forearm just ahead of the magazine. The sling is cracked and torn. Mechanically excellent.
