This model of armor was a limited run of only approximately 5 made by Valentine Armouries around 1998-99. Robert Valentine is a world renown creator of authentic historical armor reproductions, with many of his creations used in films and movies. This well-made modern copy of 16th century style armor with an "onion dome/heart" maker's mark for Valentine Armouries is visible on the back of the pauldrons and other components. It has fleur-de-lis and scroll repousse decoration and brass floral accents fitted on a black cloth covered display mannequin and a carved wooden stand. Many of the sets in this style in the 16th century originated in Milan. The fleur-de-lis is most commonly associated with the Bourbons of France and Spain but is also used in many other European locales and by other dynasties.
Fine with light gray patina throughout on the outer surfaces, dark and rough textured inner surfaces, some surface oxidation/pitting, distinct designs, mild marks and scratches, and generally solid leather. The stand is very good with mild storage wear. Overall a very attractive Full suit of armor, suitable for any office or entry way.
