This is an example of an original, unaltered WWII Luger as manufactured by the Mauser factory in early 1940. This was the first year for the transaction from the earlier "S/42" code used by the Mauser factory to only the "42" markings or secret designation for the Mauser factory. The top of the chamber area still carries the full year marking of "1940," and the front toggle is correctly stamped as noted with the "42" code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the two "Eagle/655" Waffenamt proofs (the first full year for this proof) along with the single Eagle firing proof. The left side of the barrel has the single Eagle firing proof. These Lugers have an all salt blued finish with walnut grips and has one type three all blue magazine with the aluminum base marked "1/1171k/+".
Excellent plus with 99% plus of the original blue finish overall, with just a hint of edge and high spot wear. The grips are also in excellent condition with just a couple of very minor dings. Mechanically excellent. It has all matching numbers except the magazine. Just an excellent all original WWII Mauser Luger.
