This is an excellent example of a post World War II fully automatic commercial M2 carbine, as produced in the 1960's by the Plainfield Machine Co. These carbines used a newly manufactured M2 type receiver combined with some original GI parts and some commercial parts. The receiver is marked: "PLAINFIELD MACHINE/DUNELLEN N.J.". It is serial numbered "A129" on the left side of the receiver. It is fitted with an original GI Inland marked M2 trigger housing with some original GI internal parts. It is fitted with a late production, chrome lined unmarked barrel, intending to increase barrel life during automatic firing. It is fitted with the later pattern milled rear sight, a type III barrel band/bayonet lug and a M2 type round bolt. It is fitted with a new manufactured M2 potbelly stock that does not show any proofs or cartouches and has a high polish commercial varnish. It is also fitted with a perforated, sheet metal handguard, which was a trademark of this company. It is complete with one 5 round, one 15 round, and one 30 round magazine and a green web sling.
Excellent with 95% plus of the original factory parkerized finish with only minor edge and high spot wear, and cycling wear on the right side of the receiver. The stock is also in excellent condition showing just a hint of handling marks. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
