Description:This is a very fine WWII production Winchester Model 97 shotgun that falls into the noted serial number range (E910000 to E960000) for WWII Winchester shotguns. Fitted with a single bead sight on the bayonet lug, with the six-hole flash hider partially covering the Winchester markings, a "CYL" marked choke and a 2 3/4 inch marked chamber. The top of the breech shows the "flaming bomb" and "WP" proofs, the latter repeated on the top left side of the matching numbered receiver, with "U.S." on the left side. Fitted with an 18-groove cylindrical forearm and a smooth pistol grip stock, which is proofed "W.B." and "crossed cannons" on the left side, and fitted with a sling swivel and a checkered Winchester Repeating Arms buttplate. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches.
Rating Definition:Very fine, with 85% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, dings on the heat shield, bright slide retraction wear and scattered handling marks. Some heavier scratches are present on the receiver, and the bayonet lug shows turn marks on the screws. The refinished stock is fine, with a short crack on the lower left side of the wrist, a long with some light dings and varnish loss. Mechanically excellent.
