This fine pair of matched custom Mausers features ramped beaded blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear notch sights, serial numbers and caliber markings on the left and right side of the barrel at the breech, double claw scope mounts with K. Kahles 4x60 scopes, jewelled bolt and extractor, light oak leaf and punch dot engraving on the receiver and flat bolt handle, double set triggers, and sliding tang safety. The floor plates are a gold washed cast alloy with oak leaf patterns and the bust of a pronghorn antelope in the center. Checkered pistol grip stock with fancy Schnabel forend, raised cheekpiece, and ventilated White Line recoil pad. With braided leather slings.
Fine as professionally embellished and refinished with 98% of the high polish blue finish remaining, light handling marks overall, sharp engraving, and a slight plum tint to the trigger guard. The wood is also fine with sharp checkering, small dings and scratches overall, and 95% of the high gloss varnish finish. Mechanically very good.
As described in "A" with the only discernable differences being the caliber, the presence of a "1938" date stamp, visible Waffenamt proofs, and the signature "F. OWENS" on the lower tang.
Very good as professionally engraved and refinished. 95% plus polished blue finish remains with sharp engraving, clear markings, and some small surface scratches. The stock is also very fine with attractive color and grain, sharp checkering, and some small scattered dings. Mechanically very good.
