Manufactured in 1890. The factory letter confirms caliber, barrel shape, plain trigger, receipt of the rifle in the warehouse on April 29, 1890, and shipment on September 1, 1890 on order number 16841. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "45-90 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-". Dovetail blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight. Mounted on a smooth forearm straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
Good, retains strong traces of faded original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The magazine ferrule is battered and there is a gap visible in the barrel dovetail. The case colors have faded to a brown speckled smooth grey patina. The wood is good with some minor dings and divots. There is a hairline crack and some minor chipping near the upper tang. Mechanically excellent.
