Manufactured in World War II by Springfield Armory and subsequently arsenal upgraded to M1D sniper configuration with a "6-52" dated barrel with standard blade front sights, conical M2 flash hider, integral scope base, and scope marked "TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 36225". With standard rear peep sight with "DRC" marked windage drum. With Springfield marked bolt, hammer, trigger group, and safety. Smooth pistol grip stock with two "P" proofs on the underside of the wrist, no other visible markings, padded leather cheekpiece marked "MRT/2 52", checkered trapdoor buttplate, and green canvas web sling. With CMP shipping box addressed from the Anniston Defense Distribution Depot with canvas scope case, and assorted cleaning supplies, most in original sealed sleeves.
Extremely fine as arsenal upgraded to M1D. 98% of the post-war parkerized finish remains with some light edge wear, handling marks overall, and small dings and scratches. The arsenal refurbished wood is fine with small dings and scratches, and some small chips at the front of the operating rod channel. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics. Box is fine with staining, tape, and storage wear overall.
