The factory letter confirms this is one of only 200 manufactured to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Texas Rangers that was to be engraved. They were sent with the commemorative markings wiped in silver but the gun is otherwise in-the-white. Engraving and finishing was to be arranged by Texas Rangers Historical Arms, Inc. The letter confirms the grip with silver Ranger star inlay, the presentation case with silver Texas State Seal pulls, the Texas Ranger badge "made from a five peso Mexican silver coin and set in lucite," and the Texas longhorn hide bound copy of "The Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers" by Charles Schreiner III and others. It was sold to Charles Schreiner III of Texas Ranger Historical Arms at the Y.O. Ranch in Mountain Home, Texas, and shipped to Thomas Haas of Guns Unlimited in Spencer, Indiana, on September 18, 1969. It has attractive Southwestern style engraving, "WEL" signed ahead of the trigger guard, the "YO" brand on the right side of the trigger guard at the rear, "TEXAS RANGERS" inscribed on the back strap, and a silver star fitted behind the hammer. Also includes documents from Texas Rangers Historical Arms, Inc. and Texas Ranger James R. LeBlond discussing these revolvers. LeBlond wanted the ensure the first group of these guns was purchased by or for active or retired Texas Rangers.
Excellent overall with 98% plus original silver plating remaining, showing some minor aging of the silver plating, some slight scratches and cylinder rotation marks, and minor age crack on the bottom of the left grip. Mechanically excellent. The case has some mild storage wear. The book is near new.
