Measuring 8 1/2 inches long, 2 inches tall and 1 5/8 inches wide when fully assembled, this is a very finely detailed miniature copy of the Thompson Model 1928 Submachine Gun. The level of detail is very high, down to the period-accurate note of the model marking having been adjusted from "1921" to "1928" (Auto-Ordnance relabeled a number of on-hand 1921 Thompsons to the 1928 model in-factory in order to clear old stock). Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the Cutts compensator and distinctive fins on the barrel and hand-cut markings on the receiver. A pair of control switches are present on the lower receiver, with the selector switch being cosmetic (the miniature operates in open bolt full auto mode) and the safety switch functional. The pistol grips are finger grooved, and the buttstock has a quick detach mechanism and a trapdoor buttplate. The drum magazine is unmarked and is fitted with a rotor but no spring. Included with the lot is a black leatherette violin case, 7 3/4 inches long with purple velvet lining and spaces to hold the SMG, stock and magazine when taken apart, as well as space for the included miniature Winchester ammunition box, which holds a mixture of miniature inert brass cartridges.
Excellent, with 98% plus plum tone original blue finish, showing a few light scratches and handling marks. The fittings are in equal shape, and the case shows some mild wear and handling. The inert cartridges are good, though are not all a match for this item. Mechanically very good.
