The Starr Model 1858 and Model 1863 revolvers as a group were the third most widely used revolvers by the Union forces during the Civil War. Around 23,000 of these Model 1858 Army revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s; most were sold the U.S. government. It has the standard markings and featured and three script inspector cartouches.
Fine with 40% original blue finish, some cold blue touch-up on the trigger guard, patches of case colors on the rear of the loading lever and hammer, silver-gray where the case colors have faded, gray and brown patina on the balance, light scratches and dings, and some light spotting/pitting. The grip is also fine and has crisp cartouches, some minor scratches and small dents, and a chip on the lower right edge. Mechanically excellent.
