Manufactured in 1872 as a third model with the serial number stamped in block numerals behind the trigger. The top of the barrel has the two-line Winchester address/King's patent marking. It is fitted with a blade front sight integral to the barrel band, folding two-leaf rear sight and saddle ring on the left side of the receiver. The bolt has the correct rimfire firing pin, which has two wedge shaped firing pins (one located on each side of the breech pin collar). The carbine stock has a buttplate with a compartment (cleaning rod not included).
Fine. The barrel, barrel bands and magazine retain 90% of the thinned refinished blue with gray patina on the high points. The receiver and buttplate retain 95% of the period (possibly retailer) replated nickel showing a series of scratches on the right side of the receiver. The wood is fine with a couple of minor gouges and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
