The Model 1819 Hall was the first widely issued military breech loading firearm and the first firearm manufactured with totally interchangeable parts. It has the standard late production markings and features and is dated "1838" on the breech. It comes with a replacement Civil War era "F. PRESTON" socket bayonet with a modern leather sheath.
Very fine with 85% plus original brown and casehardened finish on the components other than the barrel, mixed with brown patina on the barrel, and some minor scratches visible throughout. The crisp stock is also very fine with strong oil finish, a few slight chips, minor bruising, and light scratches. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is pitted. The gun is nearly as issued.
