Confirmed by the Colt factory letter, this pistol was an experimental prototype in unusual caliber (9x23 Win) kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the barrel length, finish and checkered black composition grips with molded Rampant Colts. The left side of the slide is marked "COLT M1991A1," and "-SERIES 80-" is on the right. The one line Hartford address is on the right side of the frame. Chamber is marked "9x23 WIN". Fixed sights. Complete with Colt blue plastic case. Provenance: Colt Factory Archive Collection.
Excellent plus. The pistol retains 99% original matte black finish with some minor wear on the chamber and a few minor handling marks overall. The grips are also excellent with a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering.
