This is the rare long barreled version of the very popular and highly reliable Finnish AK series of rifles that has been converted into a Fully Automatic Class III/NFA rifle by the Hard Times Armory in Smyrna Ga. The M78 rifle was actually made to be a copy of the Russian RPK rifles except in 308 Win. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number 390057/Finnish factory proofmark followed by "VALMET/Made in Finland". The underside of the receiver in front of the trigger it is marked "Valmet Inc./Elmsford/New York" (the importer). It has a 22 inch barrel with fully adjustable rear sight graduated from "1-5 (100-500) meters, a post front sight and a heavy military three prong flash hider with a bayonet lug on the underside. It is fitted with a factory folding bipod and carrying handle. It has a short walnut forend, synthetic pistol grip and heavy RPK style walnut buttstock with a plastic Valmet marked buttplate. It comes with 20 round magazine and original Valmet leather sling and Fiskars knife/bayonet and leather scabbard.

Very fine as converted with 98% plus of the original parkerized type finish overall showing only very minor handling marks. The wood components are both in excellent like new condition . A very desirable fully automatic light machine gun. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
