The included factory letter identifies this revolver as an experimental prototype revolver kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the caliber, barrel length, finish, checkered walnut grips with nickel finish Rampant Colt medallion inlays, rounded butt, and frame drilled and tapped for hammer shroud attachment. The left side of the barrel has the two-line model/caliber marking and the right side has the two-line Hartford address. The frame side plate is marked with the Rampant Colt. Also included is a yellow metal and paper tag which indicates "Rebound lever & safety to Seth." Provenance: Colt Factory Archive Collection.

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% original blue finish with some scattered minor oxidation and some scattered light scratches, along with a light cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent with some minor handling marks (mostly near the bottoms) and a small hairline crack (left panel near the back strap). There are a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Action does not function.
