Manufactured in 1912. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address on top, "38 W.C.F." on the left side and "41" on the underside immediately in front of the frame. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent marking with a circled Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark and a "W" assembler's mark. The serial number "322538" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The inside of the grips are not serial numbered. The assembly number "778" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate and on the right rear end of the frame beneath the grips.
Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus of the bright original high polish blue and color casehardened finish. The barrel has some very light edge wear at the muzzle and the lower edge of the ejector housing shows moderate wear. The cylinder exhibits some edge wear on the face and cylinder flutes and some turn marks and very light scratches between the stops. The trigger guard and back strap show only very minor high point wear. The unserialized, slightly oversize replacement grips are excellent with one shallow dent in the right heel and a few every insignificant handling marks on the butt. Mechanically excellent. This is an excellent example of a pre-World War I Colt Single Action revolver.
