Measuring 36 inches in overall length with a 25 1/2 inch blade showing a fine primarily straight hamon and attractive grain set into a copper habaki. The fittings are traditional for the pattern, with a thick round brass tsuba, cherry blossom themed decoration and a black lacquer finished saya with dual suspension bands and remnants of an old label. The tang has a single mekugi-ana, bearing a Showa date on the left side and the signature "Yoshu Hojoju Hiro Masa" on the right. Born as Torio Kamematsu in 1908, by 1943 he was a certified Army Smith with four students beneath him, earning multiple distinctions.
The blade is very fine, with some mild spotting and handling marks overall, and the furniture is good, with some shifting/shrinkage of the grip wrap and rayskin, as well as some scuffing and tearing of the saya cover.
