Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this pistol was kept by the Colt factory as the first serial number issued to this limited edition variation of the Gold Cup model (750 pistols were produced). The letter also confirms the caliber, barrel length, finishes, hardwood stocks with gold and black Rampant Colt logo inlays, slide markings and Elliason sights. The left side of the slide is roll marked "GOLD CUP ELITE" with caliber marking and the right side of the slide bears the marking "GOLD CUP/NATIONAL MATCH" with trophy cup logo. Complete with Colt maroon Heritage of Craftsmanship box numbered to the gun and shipping invoice indicating "Please ship to Custom Shop for special work" dated 07/15/88.

Excellent plus. The pistol retains over 99% of the respective finishes with very limited slide wear and a couple minor handling marks on the frame. The grips are near new with only the slightest handling marks. Box is very good.
