Description:Manufactured in 1914, early in Springfield Armory's first block of 1911 serial numbers. Blade front and flat top rear sights with the three-line Colt patent block, "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." and the flaming ordnance grenade proof on the left side of the slide and the Springfield American Eagle and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." in sans-serif letters on the right. The grenade proof is repeated by the magazine catch with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side of the dust cover. It is fitted with a long smooth trigger, knurled wide hammer, checkered slide stop and thumb safety, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard staple, a pair of checkered grips with screw flats, a pinned lanyard base magazine and a "S" marked barrel.
Rating Definition:Very good, with 20% of the original blue finish, concentrated in the protected areas of the frame, with a gray patina on the grip straps, mixed brown and gray on the slide, bright edge wear, some thin takedown lines, and a few light dings and spots. The heavily worn grips show smooth wear on the bottoms, light rounding next to the upper left grip screw where the thumb would rest, and mild dings. Mechanically excellent.
