As confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this is a "Colt experimental prototype of .22 caliber target pistol of advanced design" kept by the Colt factory. It was released from the factory inventory in 2008. Built around a Match Target frame, this pistol demonstrates a number of non-standard features, including the movement of the rear sight base from the slide to the frame, enlarged trigger guard and trigger, externally visible slide catch and action components, and a fluted barrel with an integral mounting dovetail on the underside and a threaded muzzle with serrated cover. The "GX" serial number is marked on the right side of the frame, and the number "2" marked within the mounting dovetail. Blue finished barrel and grip straps and the balance left in the white. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips with right handed thumbrest. The magazine bas is marked "COLT/CAL. 22 L.R." The Colt maroon box has a Custom Shop label numbered to the gun.
Fine. The barrel and grip straps retain half of the original blue finish and the remaining surfaces polished in the white appearance with handling and tool marks associated with testing. The grips are very good showing some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. The box is very good showing minor wear.
