Manufactured in 1926, and outfitted with the "improved model" or "1911A1" configuration, with factory records showing shipment to the Stambaugh Thompson Company of Youngstown, Ohio, on 9 February 1926, as part of a two-piece shipment. Stambaugh Thompson was established as a general goods store about 1846, transitioning to a home improvement/hardware store and operating through the majority of the 20th century. Fixed sights, with the two line address and patent markings on the left side of the slide and the Colt, caliber, and Rampant Colt markings on the right. The "GOVERNMENT MODEL" frame is marked "1/VP" and "47" on the trigger guard. Fitted with a flat top rear sight, wide checkered hammer, short milled trigger, long grip safety, checkered arched mainspring housing, a full blue magazine inscribed "W.H.F." on the base, checkered grips, and an unmarked barrel. "W.H.F." has not been identified at this time.
Very fine with 90% plus original blue finish, showing some bright wear on the high edges and beneath the slide catch, with a bit of brown and gray patina on the grip straps and scattered spotting and handling marks. The grips are fine, with some dings and light chips. Mechanically excellent.
