Named for their association with America's airborne units, the U.S. M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine was solely made by the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors in two identified serial number blocks, with this one in the first block. Blade front and "S" marked two-leaf rear sights, with an Inland barrel dated "1-43", a Type I barrel band, flat bolt, milled trigger guard, smooth button safety and a serrated "W -I" magazine catch. The stock is the high wood pattern with a "slim jim" pistol grip, a circled "P" (sans serif) on the rear of the wood, "IO" and crossed cannons on the bottom of the pistol grip, brown leather cheekpad with steel rivets and an oiler, and the spring-loaded buttplate with proper casting numbers on the interior. One "IA" marked magazine is included with the carbine along with a green canvas sling.
Fine as refinished, with 90% of the current parkerized finish, showing some light wear and handling marks overall. The slide stop notch has worn through, partially exposing the spring. The reproduction stock is good, with a thin crack ahead of the magazine well and scattered dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
